There is no doubt as the weather cools down, the air gets dryer, and the wind whips around with brutal force, your skincare needs shift. You can have dry, flakey skin and itchy, ashy patches. This is all well and good, but have you ever thought about what all these cold weather conditions do to your hair?

The research regarding the benefits of health and fitness is undeniable. We all know the cost of unhealthy living. Older folks, including GLBT folks, didn’t grow up with health and fitness as a priority in their life, says Harry Hartigan. As a member of Prime Timers Minneapolis/St Paul for nearly two decades, Hartigan is the visionary behind Boomer Town at Pride and currently serves as Prime Timers’ outreach and education chair. “Fitness was for the wealthy and privileged and there was not the availability of fitness centers or health and fitness information,” Hartigan says. “Today the fitness options are within reach for most people. Seniors with certain health coverage have some great fitness benefits, such as Silver Sneakers.”
Over the years, Hartigan has seen Prime Timers members struggle with health issues from high blood pressure to weight and diabetes, and from stroke and mobility issues to depression. After several members talked about how to improve health while being safe and having fun, they discovered the Mall of America opens early and welcomes walkers of all ability levels. MORE

Food is fuel for 27-year-old American Olympian Paul Ruggeri because he had to be in peak condition leading up to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. The gymnast shared with GQ magazine his thoughts on fitness, food, and the rote monotony of training life in preparation. When asked about his diet leading up to the games, Paul Ruggeri replied: "I’ve been constantly evolving my own diet. We have a bunch of resources at our disposal, we have a nutritionist assigned to us. I’ve learned a lot about portion control and watching my macros. I know what I have to do to be at a certain weight, and I’ll do whatever it takes to be at that weight before the competition. Everyone’s different, some of the guys are incredibly strict, I’m in the middle of the pack. I definitely watch my macromolecules but I like to eat sweets and stuff that I like. READ MORE

Kingdom's Frank Grillo Shares His Boxing and Workout Tips
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
I've had a crush on actor Frank Grillo since he played Hart Jessup on the CBS daytime drama Guiding Light back in the mid-90's. It has been too long since the last time I wrote about the handsome star (April 2010 in a post called, Summer Lovin'). Grillo's summer series at that time, "The Gates", was set to air soon. Unfortunately, the show was not a hit and was cancelled. Grillo's newest series is DirecTV's drama, "Kingdom". The show is centered around a family run mixed-martial arts gym. It stars: Matt Lauria, Jonathan Tucker, Nick Jonas, Kiele Sanchez and Joanna Going. Season 2 had its premiere last night.
