The Brothers Hemsworth: Vanity Fair Spotlights Hollywood’s Latest Aussie Hunk Imports

"Hemsworth may not be a household surname in Hollywood, let alone elsewhere, but expect that to change, and soon," reports Vanity Fair. "Actor brothers Chris, 26, and Liam, 19, were raised in southern Australia, and grew up fighting like bear cubs. With age they’ve become best friends, though that hasn’t stopped them from maintaining a healthy competition across parallel trajectories as rising young stars. After toiling on the Aussie soap opera Home and Away (where Heath Ledger also earned his stripes), Chris got his first American break when he was cast as Captain Kirk’s doomed father in J. J. Abrams’s Star Trek reboot." Read more at Vanity Fair.

Tres días muy calientes en One Life to Live (Three very hot days on One Life To Live)

Agua Caliente, la primera parte

What a hot week it was, on one of my favourite daytime serials, the ABC drama, One Life To Live. Here now, is my account of the hot and the wet highlights:

Let's begin with the Wednesday, August 26th episode. Best scene of the episode was a flagrant rip-off of the famous Hugh Jackman water bucket scene from Hugh's movie, Australia. I hardly minded, however, as the object of the water bucket's affection turned out to be the abs-solutely studly David A. Gregory, who just joined the show as Ford, a reality TV show producer for the inimitable David Vickers Buchanan (Tuc Watkins).

I could see from the get-go that David A. Gregory was a real cutie, but who knew he was going to be given this exciting opportunity to be audience eye candy, lol? And did you see that close up? OMG, those eyes and lips... oh, and that sexy voice, too. Needless to say, Ford's 'scorching' drenching really pegged the ol' hot-o-meter. Special thanks must go to the episode's director and camera operator for lingering on Ford's very enticing abs.

Agua Caliente, la segunda parte

Day Two, Thursday, August 27th, and OLTL is still on a hot streak. I was happy to see a little bit of a carryover scene with my new BBF (that's Best Boyfriend), Ford, aka actor David A. Gregory. He had his shirt back on, but thankfully, he was directed to keep it open to show off those killer abs. But wait, there's more...

On this episode, just prior to Ford's exit from the stable, a jealous Markko Rivera finds his girlfriend, Langston, making goo-goo eyes at the glistening Ford. Showing Langston that he can equally compete for her attentions, Markko proceeds to strip off his shirt (!) and pour water down his slender torso, and we get more gratuitous male eye candy.

The actor who plays Markko, isn't just a pretty face, btw. The Hawaiian-born Jason Tam (pictured above) is a talented musical theatre vet at the still tender age of 27. He's appeared in numerous musical productions, including the 2006 Broadway revival of A Chorus Line, but One Life To Live is his highest profile gig to date.

OLTL, Day Three: "Look at those nipples!"

That's a direct quote from my partner, CJ, after he got a good gander at the firm, rounded pecs of the newest addition to the OLTL Hunk Parade, on Friday, August 28th. Six-foot two, shirtless and hairy-chested Michael Lowry made his debut in today's episode, looking all buffed and 'Big Kahuna'-like, as the mysterious Ross Raymond/Rayburn.

Fans of ABC's All My Children will remember him from his 1996 to 2000 stint as Jake Martin. He's since briefly appeared on a couple of CBS soaps, ATWT and The Bold & The Beautiful, as well as episodic TV, most notably as the cop, Wes Tosterone, on Two And A Half Men. Lowry holds 2 degrees - impressive! - one in biology and the other in zoology, but how's this for a fun fact? In 2006 and 2007, he trained for and received his certification as an EMT!

Did I mention it's getting hot in here? I think I might pass out... medic!!

Talent Watch: OLTL's David A. Gregory

David A. Gregory is a very pleasant addition to the canvas of one of my favourite daytime soaps, One Life To Live.. With charm and talent to spare, I found myself asking where he came from. Because there was next to nothing about David online, I had to do extensive research in order to compose the following biography of him. I've also posted a very tongue-in-cheek TV commercial that David did about a year ago for a product called Airborne. In it, he plays Sebastian (pictured above right), a muscular, shirtless romance novel hero-type. Check it out below...enjoy!

I also created this assemblage of pics of David, as Sebastian.

David A. Gregory Biography:

Birthdate: August 19th, 1985. David was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska.

During his teenage years, David was a standout performer on local stages, excelling in singing, dancing and acting. He appeared in productions for the Fairbanks Summer Fine Arts Camp, the North Star Ballet, the Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre, the Fairbanks Drama Association, the UAF Music Department, the Mo Holland Dance Studio, the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, among others.

David graduated with a degree in music and theater from Ohio's Baldwin-Wallace College Music Theater Program in May 2008.

Stage, Film and Television credits:

David appeared in a production of “The Full Monty” presented by the American Musical Theatre of San Jose in September, 2008.

Also in 2008, David had a small role as a reformed gay prostitute in the NBC crime drama, Law & Order.

In August 2009, David made his daytime debut on the popular ABC drama, One Life To Live, playing reality TV producer, Ford.

David is currently filming an as yet to be titled James L. Brooks movie. The romantic comedy stars Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Jack Nicholson and Paul Rudd.

One of David's most recent roles was as Sebastian, a romance novel hero-type, in a TV commercial for Airborne. YouTube. When asked if he could ride a horse during the Airborne commercial auditions, he said, "Only a pony. At a state fair. I was 6." He was hired anyway and flew to Toronto on an afternoon's notice. The next day, he learned how to ride a horse.

Check out the amusing YouTube clip of a shirtless "Sebastian" riding, romping and reminding folks of why they need to use Airborne.

OLTL's David A. Gregory as "Sebastian"

David A. Gregory debuted earlier this month, on one of my favourite soaps, One Life To Live. He was so handsome and obviously talented, that I found myself asking where he came from. There was nothing about David online; I had to do a lot of research in order to compose this biography of him. I've also posted a very tongue-in-cheek TV commercial that David did about a year ago for a product called Airborne. In it, he plays Sebastian, a muscular, shirtless romance novel hero-type. Meet Noah Danby

I love the tough guy action hero types that populate the fantasy/sci-fi genres. One actor who caught my eye recently was Noah Danby; he played "the brawn", Connor King, on the Syfy network's short-lived 2007 series, PAINKILLER JANE. At 6 foot 3, this chiseled Canadian hunk is hard not to miss! Danby's past work includes guest spots on QUEER AS FOLK, THE 4400 and STARGATE SG-1.

Rudy Reyes: Hero Living

US Marine Rudy Reyes is probably best known for playing himself in the TV series GENERATION KILL, which aired during the summer of 2008 on HBO. The series was written by David Simon and Ed Burns, the award-winning team who created THE WIRE. Simon and Burns based the show on the book by Evan Wright about his experiences as an embedded reporter covering the first phase of the Iraq War in 2003.

Along with being an actor, Rudy Reyes is a martial arts champion and fitness guru. He's combined his passion for fitness with his personal philosophy to create a program to help others called, HERO LIVING. Rudy told AskMen.com that: "... Essentially, it’s an integration of compound movements with martial-art power and balance... the hero is your birthright!"
