"As reported earlier, NBC’s Today Show has officially opened the Modern Wedding Contest to same-sex couples," reports GLAAD. "The application deadline was originally Friday, July 9th, but has been extended until Monday, July 12th to give same-sex couples more time to apply. GLAAD encourages all loving committed couples to take advantage of this deadline extension and apply to the contest."

Wouldn't it be sweet karmic justice if a gay or lesbian couple did win the contest after all the confusion this needless controversy caused?
