Corey Haim collapsed, prescriptions found:
Corey Haim collapsed in the bedroom of his mother's apartment and four prescription bottles were found nearby ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

We've learned Corey had been sick the last couple of days with flu-like symptoms. The medications recovered, however, were not related to his illness, sources tell TMZ.

We're told no illicit drugs were found in the apartment. Corey's mom told authorities he had been battling prescription drug addiction for years. Authorities believe -- though are not certain -- Corey died of an accidental drug overdose.

Corey Haim died of pneumonia, not drugs: coroner

Canadian actor Corey Haim died from pneumonia complicated by an enlarged heart, bad lungs and narrowed blood vessels and drugs found in his system played no role in his death, the Los Angeles County coroner said Tuesday.

Haim, 38, died of natural causes from “community-acquired pneumonia” along with lung, heart and blood vessel problems, according to an autopsy report.

Low levels of eight drugs, including both prescription and over-the-counter medications, were found in the Toronto-born actor’s system, along with marijuana, coroner’s spokesman Craig Harvey said.

“But nothing was at a level that would have contributed to his death,” Harvey said.
They included common cold and flu medications, such as ibuprofen and a cough-suppressant, he said.

Haim, who struggled with drug problems throughout his life, died March 10 after collapsing in his mother’s apartment. Haim was ill with flulike symptoms before his death, and police said he was taking over-the-counter and prescription medications.
“The pneumonia is what killed him,” Harvey said.
