Anti-gay bullying could be a federal civil rights violation, according to U.S. Dept. of Education

"Bullying students based on their sexual orientation could be a federal civil rights violation, according to new guidance released today by the U.S. Department of Education's office of civil rights," writes Andrew Dodson. "Education Week is reporting that even though members of those groups are not specifically protected in federal law, harassment of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered students may be a form of gender stereotyping, which is a federal offense."
