Movie Buzz: Ian McKellen, Sex & City 2, Kate Winslet, De Niro's Tribeca Film Fest

Ian McKellen talks about 'The Hobbit' script

The 70-year-old gushed about the matter to Sci Fi Wire while promoting AMC's "The Prisoner". Revealing he has got his hands on the script, the actor who will reprise his Gandalf role shares, "As Peter [Jackson, the director] has said, they loved writing Gandalf [for The Hobbit] because they knew who they were writing him for. There are a lot of characters in The Hobbit including, crucially, Bilbo, and they don't know who's going to play Bilbo. So it's extremely attractive that this part has been written for me."

Kate Winslet accepts libel payout

Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet has accepted £25,000 libel damages over a claim made by the Daily Mail that she lied about her exercise regime. The settlement was agreed at London's High Court on Tuesday, but the actress was not present for the hearing. In May, the 34-year-old filed legal papers saying she was "distressed and embarrassed" by the feature. In a statement the actress said: "I am delighted that the Mail have apologised for making false allegations about me." She added: "I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology in order to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues, including diet and exercise. "I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy."

De Niro awards prize-winners at Doha Tribeca Film Fest

Hollywood veteran Robert De Niro was on hand to celebrate the award-winners of the Doha Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend, participating in discussions and distributing prizes for the fledgling Qatari event's inaugural edition. De Niro, who established the original Tribeca Film Festival in 2001 to help New York recover from the Sept. 11 attacks, presented the Doha offshoot's two $50,000 Audience Awards at a gala in Doha on Sunday as the four-day festival drew to a close. "I cannot express how proud I am. This is only the first year, but based on the past four days, the future of the festival in Doha is bright," De Niro said before announcing the winners. More about the award-winners here.

Stars of 'Sex and the City 2' spotted filming in Morocco

Both Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon are captured on camera shooting for the Sex and the City sequel at Marrakech, one of the country's biggest cities. SJP was captured wearing a J'adore Dior t-shirt with ball gown-like lavender and gray skirt. On her feet, she slipped on baby-pink snakeskin heels. Meanwhile, Nixon was seen in an all-white outfit consisting of a blazer and floor-length skirt. While SJP and Nixon were snapped on the set, there is yet sign of their co-stars Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall. In a recent interview with MTV, Davis has hinted that she will be joining the others for the African shoot, saying "I do have my passport, but I can't say where [we're going]. I'm not allowed to say anything. I know - it's so boring. But, yes, we are going on an adventure together ... the group of us." Sex and the City 2 is set to be released in the U.S on May 28, 2010.
