Denver Channel reports:
(Aurora, Colorado) A Gateway High School football coach is under fire, accused of hazing two players during practice Wednesday. Freshman player Rafael Merced said he and another player got into a tussle during practice Wednesday. Instead of benching the boys or ordering them to do extra pushups, Merced said Coach Grant Pippert commanded the boys to run laps while holding each others' hands as other students jeered and called them gay. "It sucks because everybody could see us running around the field holding hands," said Merced. "It's really humiliating." Merced's mother, Tasha Martinez, said the incident is a clear case of hazing. "To use humiliation as a means of discipline, it's just unacceptable and I don't know why he would do something like that," said Martinez. Aurora Public Schools spokeswoman Paula Hans released a statement saying, "We are investigating these allegations to determine if they are true. We are speaking with players, parents and staff who may have been involved."
