Winnipeg Free Press reports:
(London, Ontario, Canada) A former London Silverbacks semi-pro football player who is accused of beating up a 22-year-old gay man has been released on $5,000 bail. Alex Myros, 22, appeared in court Thursday for a bail hearing on charges of aggravated assault, forcible confinement and uttering death threats.
Myros was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim Brandon Wright, cannot own weapons and will have to live with his father in North Bay. His next court appearance is Nov. 5.
Wright said he jumped from a moving pick-up truck to escape the attack on September 8, 2009. He suffered a broken arm and wounds to his head and face after he said he accepted a lift from a man he met outside a convenience store who said he recognized him from school.
Myros was arrested Sept. 24 at the London International Airport after police issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.
