Here come the grooms! Jim Verraros 'weds' his partner Bill Brennan

Congratulations are in order as American Idol singer, Jim Verraros 'married ' his partner of four years, entrepreneur Bill Brennan, on Sunday, September 6th, 2009. The ceremony (see their wedding reception video below) included 174 family and friends and took place at the Oak Brook Hills Resort in Illinois. Although same-sex marriage is not legal in the state of Illinois, Verraros wanted to make a public statement.

"Gay marriage is not legal in Illinois, but we wanted the day to be a reflection of our love and commitment to each other as well as a statement to other gay couples in Illinois." reports People.com.

Verraros and Brennan combined traditional wedding elements with some modern touches, including having each of their fathers serve as best men. After the couple's first dance, to 'their song', Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love, they cut into a 4 ½-ft. tall, vanilla buttercream frosted, white wedding cake. Afterward, everyone enjoyed themselves on the dance floor as a 10-piece orchestra played everything from contemporary dance music to hits from the 1940's.

On his website, Verraros said:

"This wedding is a culmination of our lives so far, and our lives from this point onward. It is so imperative to the both of us that our friends and family see just how in love we are, and how happy we are to share it with everyone."

Talented Jim Verraros burst on to the public scene when he finished in ninth place on the first season of American Idol. Since that time, he's pursued a career in both music and film. His independent CD, Unsaid & Understood, won an Out Music Award for Outstanding New Recording Debut - Male in June 2004. His official debut CD, Rollercoaster, was released in 2005. Verraros had some chart success with the singles, You’re Getting Crazy and You Turn It On, both of which became top 25 hits on the Billboard Dance chart.

In film, Verraros played Kyle in Eating Out, and it's sequel, Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds. His next film role will be as Flavio/Suzie in director Roberto Jabor's Copacabana. The film stars Queer As Folk alums Peter Paige and Thea Gill.

Verraros recently released two new singles, Touch (Don't U Want 2) and Electric Love. He's currently working on his next album.
