Queen Latifah fuels lesbian rumours

"Assume whatever you want... You do it anyway. I don't have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay, but I do have a problem discussing my personal life. You don't get that part of me. Sorry." - Queen Latifah

UK Pink News reports:
The star, who has never confirmed rumours about her sexuality, reportedly spent several hours relaxing at Country Club's weekly Wednesday night party, Eden, on West 14th Street. A source told the New York Post: "She chilled for several hours, ordering bottle service for her friends and chatting up promoter Maggie Collier." In December 2007, the rumour mill went into overdrive with gossip that Queen Latifah was about to come out of the closet and announce her engagement to her personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins. However, the actress subsquently denied the stories, saying it was just a part of being a celebrity.

Advocate reports:
Latifah's sexual orientation has been the subject of much speculation over the years, but the singer-rapper-actress has always either denied being gay or brushed off questions about her private life in interviews. "My personal life is personal and it's really not for everyone else," the songstress told Essence magazine back in June. "With what I do for a living, I have to share a lot of myself with a lot of people, but I’m not going to share everything. "They want to make up stories and make me gay all the time and it's like, 'Keep running with it,'" she continued. "I've definitely been annoyed by it, but I learned a long time ago that it was pointless to say anything. Everybody else can do the reading; I'll do the living."

Those comments echoed the same sentiments Queen Latifah shared with The New York Times' Alex Witchel in an interview prior to the release of the film The Secret Life of Bees. "Assume whatever you want,” she said. "You do it anyway. I don't have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay, but I do have a problem discussing my personal life. You don't get that part of me. Sorry."
