The Jacksons crowned icons at BMI Urban Awards

CBC reports:
Michael Jackson was a no-show in Los Angeles as the BMI Urban Awards honoured him and the rest of the Jackson brothers. Tito, Jackie, Marlon and Randy reunited at the event Thursday evening as the Jacksons were given the BMI Icon award for lifetime achievement in music. BMI, a performers rights group, honoured the group for "blazing a trail for R&B and pop music, creating a sound and musical image that is emulated to this day."

Sister Janet Jackson, a star performer on her own, presented her brothers with the award at the ceremony, which included a tribute to the group. In her speech, she said she was proud to salute the Jacksons for their accomplishments in the music industry. Most of the family has not seen or heard from Michael since his June 2005 acquittal in Los Angeles on charges of child molestation and conspiracy.
